UNDER URET

Dansk Rakkerpak (DK)
60 Minutes

From 6 years and up

Under uret unfolds at a train station. A young couple, burdened with lots of luggage and a feisty little dog, rushes toward a departing train and forgets their baby along the way. A street musician is preparing to perform at the station when he hears the baby crying. He picks her up and waits and waits, but no one comes to claim the little girl, so the musician takes her in and raises her as his own daughter. The girl grows up and makes a living with her “father” as a station musician. It’s a tough life, but full of love.

One day, however, the musician chokes on a bite of an apple and nearly dies. Shaken by the incident, he tells the now-grown woman that he is not her real father…

Under uret is a story about the importance of knowing your history and biological origins, but also about forgiveness, and growing up surrounded by great love and generosity. The performance is delivered in Dansk Rakkerpak’s signature style—comic, physical, and nonverbal. The theatre’s rhythmic, musical, and action-packed storytelling once again highlights the essentials, spiced with a generous dose of humor.
